Turbinia
concert band, grade 3 Commissioned by the Brainerd, MN High School Wind Symphony, directed by Christopher Fogderud Duration: 3' Katherine Bergman Music © 2014 Turbinia is the name of the first ever turbine-powered steamboat, designed in 1894 by the British engineer Charles Parsons. Undoubtedly the fastest ship at the time, the Turbinia set the standard for the next generation of steamships, the majority of which were turbine powered. The vessel can still be seen at the Discovery Museum in Newcastle upon Tyne, North East England, while her original powerplant can be found at the London Science Museum.
